TIRANA, Feb 13 /ATA/ – Chairman of the Democratic Party (DP) Sali Berisha affirmed Thursday that the main opposition party will back the amendments to Albania’s electoral vote.
Speaking to reporters after a regular plenary session, Berisha said the opposition would vote the proposed changes, “but won’t do so under suppression.”
“We will vote in the changes to the Electoral Code, as they have to do with the migrants vote, but Edi Rama is doing whatever it takes to block the process. We can vote, but not under suppression. Suppression is unacceptable,” Berisha told reporters.
Parliament Speaker suspended proceedings earlier today after tension and heated exchanges between the majority and opposition lawmakers.
The agenda included changes to the Electoral Code regarding the expats vote in the upcoming general elections in May.
