TIRANA, February 11/ATA/ Mayor of Tirana Erion Veliaj considered a criminal perversion the charges of corruption and money laundering raised against him.
According to Veliaj, “The story that describes me as a corrupt criminal, who has hidden wealth and made money laundering together with his wife, is fabricated by a perverted individual, the prosecutor of our case”.
“For example, the prosecutor claims that my wife has spent over half a million euros on online purchases of dresses and jewelry. But, the prosecutor did not want to hear about my and my wife’s explanations. As a matter of fact, the online purchases are all declared and in a several times smaller amount. These purchases were made for the artistic performances of my wife’s cultural foundation. Hence, claiming that money was poured into luxury, is a criminal perversion”, wrote Veliaj in his reaction.
Further on, Veliaj emphasized that during control in the house, the prosecutor did not find either dresses worth thousands of euros or jewelry of any particular value. /a.f/p.s./
