TIRANA, Feb 11 /ATA/ As agreed upon the previous day by a unanimous vote, on Tuesday the Parliamentary Committee on Education and Public Media proceeded with the dismissal procedure of the RTSH (Public Broadcaster) Board members, based on a report outlining serious and repeated legal violations.
Today, a hearing was held for the remaining 9 members of the council, as two of them had resigned. The first person to speak, according to the alphabetical order, was Albert Minga, who did not show up, and his hearing was considered exhausted. Later, the positions of other members were presented: Milena Selimi, Edmond Tullumani, and Ilir Keko, who also did not appear for their hearings. Two members of the RTSH Board, Genci Përmeti and Gëzim Podgorica, had previously submitted their resignations.
During the hearing, Ardita Reçi said that she was the only member of the RTSH Board who did not vote in favor of Alfred Peza as director. She also highlighted that, when Director Alfred Peza carried out mass layoffs at RTSH, she was the only board member to openly stand by the dismissed staff, especially the journalists.
Ardita Reçi stated, “I find it unjust to be a victim of a group of incompetent and uninformed individuals whom you yourselves have selected.”
The parliamentary committee chair, Ina Zhupa, stated that a decision “en bloc” will not and cannot be made.
“Each mandate will be reviewed separately. A separate vote will be held for every mandate, and we will express our stance on each one. The committee will address all of them in an upcoming meeting,” said Zhupa.
Another board member, Engjëll Ndocaj, pointed out that the situation at RTSH is not a new one, and as an employee with 45 years of experience at the institution, he has tried to contribute to the solution. Ndocaj also highlighted that this situation had occurred under the leadership of the three previous directors.
