TIRANA, February 10/ATA/ Chairwoman of the Committee on Education and Public Information of the Assembly of Albania Ina Zhupa demanded today the beginning of the procedures for dismissal of the remaining 9 members of the Leading Board of the public Albanian Radio-Television (RTSH).
Zhupa emphasized that the activity of the RTSH Leading Board is in complete violation of the legal framework for the functioning of the only public broadcaster in the country and is in the conditions of abuse of duty and the mandate given by the Assembly.
Based on Article 115 of the Rules of Procedure of the Assembly, Zhupa invited the activation of this article for the dismissal of the members of the body established by law.
The chairwoman of the committee said that the Leading Board is the highest institution for the management of the RTSH and they elect the Director General. “They cannot hide behind the fact that a director made certain choices because they had the right to dismiss that director if they caught him in violation of the law”, emphasized Zhupa.
On her part, the deputy chairwoman of the committee, the MP of the socialist majority Evis Kushi said that no other institution has failed to present the annual report to the Albanian Parliament, except for the RTSH leading board.
“This is a legal obligation”, said Kushi.
Besides, Kushi confirmed the violations found by the Supreme Audit Office in 3 audits, not only of the institution but also of the Leading Board itself.
All the Committee members expressed support for the dismissal of the RTSH Leading Board. /j.p/p.s./
