Tabaku: Foreign investments should be transparent, in line with national interests

TIRANA, February 6/ATA/ Democratic Party MP Jorida Tabaku attended the national security and foreign investments conference in Washington, DC, where there was discussed on the significance of screening the foreign investments.

Tabaku wrote in a post in the social media that she has already filed an important initiative in the Parliament that strengthens Albania’s economic security: the new Law on Screening Foreign Investments.

“Foreign investments are not only economic matters, but also strategic ones – they can strengthen democracy or become tools of influence for malicious actors,” Tabaku wrote.

Tabaku emphasized that, “Albania must not allow itself to become NATO’s weak link in the chain in the Western Balkans.”

“The proposed law guarantees that strategic investments in energy, telecommunications, infrastructure and artificial intelligence are transparent and in line with the national interests,” Tabaku wrote further on.

Tabaku praised the partnership with the United States and underlined that, “It’s our main partner and we welcome more American investments.”

“This law creates a safe and fair environment for American businesses, further strengthening our strategic ties. Together for a safe, economic and democratic future!”, wrote Democratic Party MP Jorida Tabaku. /a.f/r.e/p.s./
