PM Rama: OECD/SIGMA report shows Albania leads region in finance management, public administration reform

TIRANA, Feb 4 /ATA/-By Maela Marini/ – Prime Minister Edi Rama welcomed Tuesday the most recent OECD/SIGMA report that highlights Albania’s progress in finance management, public administration reform, digital services and human resources.

The government head said that through significant facts, the findings of the report show Albania’s transformation, positioning itself as a regional leader in public procurement, public finance management, digital governance, human resources management and public administration.

In his remarks at the report presentation, PM Rama expressed gratitude to SIGMA for processing data and facts in the Western Balkan countries, saying “it is an irreplaceable source of knowhow.”

“It is undoubtedly very encouraging that from this source, unquestionable for its objectivity and professionalism, we receive such positive assessments. But it is also very encouraging that this source provides us with knowledge on what we need to improve further,” PM Rama said.

The government head noted that building a public administration up to the European standards is an extremely complex exercise.

He noted that the European Union and its mechanisms are the only driving force that provide countries like Albania the tools to reform and modernize institutions and the public administration.
