TIRANA, January 28 /ATA/ Speaker of the Assembly Elisa Spiropali continued today the meetings in Elbasan region in framework of the program “Let’s talk on Albania”.
At the venues of the “Skampa” Theater in the city of Elbasan, Spiropali presented the “Assembly-ON” initiative, a program that extends throughout the country, as a comprehensive “accountability” platform, where citizens are encouraged to express their concerns directly to the Speaker of the Assembly.
Attending the event were Mayor of Elbasan Gledian Llatja, lawyers, teachers, students, pensioners, young people and young women, who discussed with Speaker Spiropali their problems, economic, social, cultural issues, what has been done and what needs to be done better by the Assembly and the institutions.
During her speech, Spiropali stated that public debate serves democracy and that the Albanian Parliament continuously monitors citizens’ concerns, especially during Green Week, when MPs are in their constituencies.
Speaker Spiropali also spoke about integration into the European Union.
“The Assembly has a very important role in the process of membership in the European Union. All parliamentary structures, the European Integration Service, the Committee on European Affairs, the special committees are maximally committed to accomplish the top priority of the Assembly. But, fulfilling this objective requires the strong commitment of everyone to integration into the European Union. The Assembly has a major role in this issue and we must all be together”, said Spiropali. /j.p/r.e/p.s./
