TIRANA, Jan 13 /ATA/ The Chairman of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, outlined the export program today.
In a press conference, Berisha stated that the board for fixing the euro would be urgently established.
Berisha also promised tax cuts and a reduction in energy prices.
“It is needed an urgent action to save and stimulate exports. First, the government will establish a board to fix the euro exchange rate,” said Berisha.
Berisha said, “The government will compensate exporters for any losses resulting from the euro depreciation, with the compensation calculated based on the market rate of the euro in comparison to the fixed rate set by the government.”
He went on saying, “For instance, if the euro is fixed at 138 lek and it is trading at 100 lek in the market, exporters will receive a compensation of 38 lek per euro. This approach will help us offset the harmful impact of the ‘narco-euros’ on the Albanian economy, especially in exports,” Berisha emphasized.
The leader of the Democratic Party said that the establishment of the board will be one of the first actions after the inauguration of the DP government.
Secondly, Berisha emphasized, “The government will drastically reduce taxes on all export businesses and will remove VAT on energy.”
“We will directly sign agreements with energy companies to purchase energy without VAT, and to buy fuel without VAT and excise duties,” said Berisha.
He stated, “If this does not happen, the export economy will collapse, leaving us without exports and transforming our country into one that only imports and circulates the euros of drug lords.”
The Democratic Party leader added, “They will be given the chance to freely use the credit surplus, which they never receive, to pay personal income tax, social security contributions, and any other current fiscal obligations.”
Berisha added that there will be a significant reduction in the employer’s social security contribution.
He stated, “Considering that we are now setting the minimum wage at 500 euros, it is necessary to provide some relief for employers. This is one of the measures to support them.”
Berisha said, “Customs Authority will fully revise its stance towards exporters. The state will cover all their customs expenses, not the exporters themselves.”
He stated, “A protection office for exports will be established, aiming to protect them from any form of bureaucratic and mafia-like arbitrariness, various pressures, and to ensure fair and free competition.”
Berisha stressed, “We are confident that these prompt measures will restore the interest of both foreign and Albanian entrepreneurs in producing and exporting in Albania.”
