Berisha calls on emigrants to register in CEC platform: Intervention in Electoral Code, if necessary

TIRANA, January 13/ATA/ Chairman of the Democratic Party Sali Berisha called on Albanian nationals living abroad to register in the CEC platform for the upcoming May 11 general elections.

At a press conference, Berisha also spoke about the possibility of interventions in the Electoral Code to ensure the constitutional right of the Diaspora to vote.

“There should be no intervention in the electoral law 6 months before the elections. But a new, non-existent development has occurred, such as the vote of emigrants. Legal changes were made to pave the way to this process, but if due to the problems that arise, in order to ensure their constitutional right as best as possible, there can be made more interventions in the code, which facilitate and guarantee this process”, said Berisha.

“I take this opportunity to call on all emigrants and the Diaspora to apply on the CEC platform”, said Berisha.

Speaking about the CEC platform, Berisha stated that, as a platform, it provides for a safe and complete process.

“Given that it is the first such platform, of course, I cannot say that it is perfect, so in any case do not lose patience if you do not register on the first attempt; I assure you that on the second or third attempt you will achieve it by 100%”, said Berisha.

But, he added, “On the other hand, there is also a DP platform, where anyone who wants to get informed about the registration process can register on this platform and they will automatically be provided by e-mail or WhatsApp with help, with all the procedures they must follow for registering with the CEC”.

“It is the constitutional right of 1.5 million Albanians; it is unthinkable that we tell them they cannot vote because of the law. No, we will do everything for you to vote”, said Berisha. /j.p/p.s./
