TIRANA, December 27/ATA/ On Monday afternoon, Tirana Big Ring Road is set to open for vehicle traffic. For the time being, there is work underway on the final elements related to the installation of signage and other road safety elements.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Energy Belinda Balluku, together with Director of the Albanian Road Authority Gentian Gjyli were today to see the works in Lot 5. There the work is underway to lay the final asphalt layers and install information signs.
Director Gjyli appreciated that the works have progressed at a rapid pace, and thanks to the commitment of other institutions, there have been overcome even the identified problems. The intervention of Electricity Utility also made it possible to relocate underground power lines to pave the way for the construction site.
Deputy PM Balluku said that during these weeks, there is done intensive work despite the weather conditions, to enable finalization of this work within the expected deadline. Balluku said that the Big Ring Road is rather important work, not only for the capital, but also for the citizens who come from other areas because it connects all highways.
“We have given more time to our construction sites, despite the weather conditions that were not favorable to us during December. The Big Ring Road is not only at the service of the local residents of the capital, but it is at the service of all those visitors who come from all over Albania”, said Balluku.
Beside the speed lanes for the vehicles, the Big Ring Road also has urban elements as part of the project, such as lighting and greenery, since it passes through residential areas. There will also be dedicated spaces for pedestrians.
“This road is of extraordinary importance. It is a highway that has been treated with urban features, precisely because it passes through residential areas and it is an infrastructural work that for us will become a good model to follow, as the coordination of all actors, but of course also the contribution of the builders, can bring an extraordinary result in a very short time”, Balluku underlined.
The Big Ring Road has a length of approximately 29 kilometers. /r.e/p.s./
