TIRANA, December 18/ATA/ On the National Diaspora Day, Speaker of the Assembly Elisa Spiropali received today the members of the Diaspora Coordination Council headed by its Chairman Mark Gjonaj.
Spiropali expressed her gratitude for their commitment to promote cooperation of the Diaspora communities with Albania.
The interlocutors discussed the legal conditions for the possibility of out-of-the-country vote for members of the Diaspora from the countries where they live. This was achieved after changes to the Electoral Code.
“Now, there are being resolved the technical modalities for implementation of this process. The Assembly and the Council will cooperate to organize awareness-raising campaigns so that as many members of the Diaspora exercise this acquired political right”, said Spiropali.
During the meeting, the interlocutors also discussed on increasing the contribution of the Diaspora and its financial, human and social potentials to the development of Albania, as well as cooperation in creating opportunities for learning the Albanian language for children born in other countries, using online learning formats.
Investing in the Albanian language, as a component of identity and a factor of uniting Albanians, will be a priority in context of cooperation of the Assembly with the Diaspora Coordination Council. /k.s/j.p/p.s./
