TIRANA, Dec 13 /ATA/ The increase in transparency of public authorities provides citizens, civil society organizations, and the media with a comprehensive overview, as well as easier and faster access to government information.
The forum entitled “Building trust, Albania’s path to the EU towards transparent governance” was held, co-organized by the Minister of State for Public Administration and Anti-Corruption (MAPA) and the EU Delegation to Albania, marking the conclusion of “Integrity Week.”
The Commissioner for the Right to Information and Protection of Personal Data, Besnik Dervishi, in his speech at the forum, praised the significant improvement in the proactive transparency of ministry institutions. He noted that this result has been coordinated continuously and effectively with MAPA.
Among other things, Dervishi stated, “Transparency contributes to the implementation of constitutional principles of equality, impartiality, good performance, accountability, effectiveness, and efficiency in the use of resources. This integrates the right to good administration and helps build an administration that serves the citizen.”
“Legislation on the right to information, particularly the Transparency Program tool, has expanded the operational scope of the transparency principle, making it effective in the fight against corruption,” added Dervishi.
He highlighted that the principle of transparency serves as a tool to ensure democracy and good governance.
“Proactive transparency is not just about making information available – it’s about fostering an environment where openness and accountability are the norm, not the exception,” emphasized Dervishi.
This activity was held as part of the “European Union for Good Governance” project, which focuses on proactive transparency in governance as a key pillar of the EU Growth Plan, considering it an important measure in the fight against corruption.
