TIRANA, Nov 30 /ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama and Minister of Education and Sports, Ogerta Manastirliu, were at the “Janaq Kilica” high school in Fier on Saturday as part of their advisory meetings with parents regarding the restriction on social media platforms such as TikTok.
“We have deployed security officers in schools, which was not the case before” said Rama, adding, “Before we assigned security personnel to monitor schools, it wasn’t the students who were leaving, it was the hashish coming in—through the school gates, into the classrooms. To sum up, the school was in a disarray,” Rama explained.
“We have stationed security officers in schools and increased their numbers. This number should be further expanded, without a doubt. Of course, among the security officers, some perform their duties very well, while others underperform,” said Rama.
However, the Prime Minister added, “I am a strong believer that in this world where technology has become an opportunity rather than a problem, we can tackle issues by leveraging technology that we would never have been able to solve.”
Rama stated, “By December, after a year of working on this project, we will finalize the agreement with the government of the United Arab Emirates for a school security program, which is a major breakthrough in technology. It is an extraordinary success story in that country, where digital monitoring has been implemented in every classroom, hallway, entrance, and exit of schools. What has this brought? It has completely transformed the dynamics of life within schools,” said Rama.
“Through this program, they have effectively reduced bullying to minimal levels, teaching under the watchful eye of the public. Naturally, this program includes protocols specifying who can see what and how, which has resulted in a significant transformation in relationships and behaviour. It makes sure that attention is directed where it’s needed, rather than being diverted or creating the impression that every child is armed with knives or cell phones, causing disorder on all fronts,” Rama emphasized. /j.p/sm/
