Albanian Night, largest ethno-cultural centre in Balkans

TIRANA, Nov 25 /ATA/ – Albanian Night, Tirana’s first-ever and largest ethno-cultural center preserving, revitalizing and promoting Albania’s intangible cultural heritage for tourists and Albanians alike, is expected to open its doors ahead of the year-end holidays.

In a post on the social media on Monday, the Minister of Economy, Culture and Innovation Blendi Gonxhja invited everyone to join a series of events to celebrate Albanian culture through interactive experiences and cultural traditions.

“Explore Albanian rites and customs through music, songs, dances and traditional culinary experiences. Explore the rich Albanian cultural heritage through the hands of more than 500 Albanian artisans, their unique works with completely artisanal methods,” Gonxhja wrote, adding that the Albanian Night Cultural Center is supported by the Albanian government through the Ministry of Economy, Culture and Innovation, the Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Start-Up Albania, as well as the EU Delegation through the EU4Innovation programme, implemented by GIZ.

Through a focus on traditional dance, costume making, culinary traditions and music, Albanian Night educates visitors all about Albanian culture.

The center’s interactive and experiential offerings immerse participants in the heart of Albanian culture by taking them back into the past; participants will don traditional Albanian costumes and headgear as they take on the role of an Albanian villager in the center’s nightly Albanian Night Dinner Show.

Day visitors to Albanian Night will learn all about Albanian gastronomy by trying their hand at creating and enjoying Albanian cuisine, as well as listening to a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage music form, the Iso Polyphonia.

And the center’s Albanian Bazaar will be the largest artisanal hall and souvenir shop in the Balkans, providing a home for 500 artisans specializing in 28 different disciplines, uplifting the artisanal economy by providing local artists with a platform to market their wares and teach visitors all about Albanian craftsmanship.
