Bardhi: Consultations with President Begaj for setting election date, a total sham

TIRANA, Nov 21 /ATA/ The Democratic Party has refused to participate in consultations with the President of the Republic, Bajram Begaj, on setting the date for the parliamentary elections to be held next year.

This is what the chairman of the DP parliamentary group, Gazment Bardhi, said. He added that the consultation on setting the date for elections has been dictated by Rama and Balla. Bardhi describes the consultation process as a total sham, adding that it is an ugly act that deserves nothing but to be despised.

“Personally, I refuse to pitch in with a sham process that aims solely to legitimize an unconstitutional act dictated by the ruling party. Setting the election date is the constitutional competence of President of the Republic and cannot be dictated by Edi Rama and Taulant Balla. Rama – Balla duo has already set the election date, and the President is only expected to sign and seal the will of the ruling party. The sham of so-called consultations with political parties, and even with individuals without parties, is an ugly act that deserves nothing but to be despised,” Bardhi wrote.
