TIRANA, Nov 19 /ATA/ Minister of State for Relations with Parliament, Taulant Balla, responded on Tuesday from the podium of the Assembly regarding the tragic incident that occurred yesterday near the “Fan Noli” school, where a 14-year-old boy was stabbed in a knife attack.
In response to Democratic Party MP Ina Zhupa, who expressed concern about the incident, Balla stated, “Of course, the killing of a teenager, a promising football player, has deeply saddened us all, and I extend my sincere condolences to the Cani family.”
“It is a responsibility that belongs to all of us, and this responsibility becomes even greater when such serious events are taken advantage of for the political debate. These tragic events have been used for political purposes for 30 years—you weren’t even born when these events were always politicized, and it’s not your fault. This is the kind of politics that has been cultivated all these years, where sorrow, pain, and death are used for political gain,” Balla said, addressing MP Zhupa.
Balla also spoke about the School Security Package.
“I believe that each of us is responsible for the example we set. You asked here for accountability regarding the implementation of the School Security Package. Well, I’ve always been a firm believer that we need a completely different approach when it comes to guaranteeing the security perimeter in schools, the fight against drugs use, and the misuse of social media. Dear colleague, we all know that today we need to unite with each other to pass the proposals that have long been submitted regarding the security perimeter in schools. We need to severely punish all those who violate traffic rules around schools. We need to double the criminal penalties for anyone who peddles drugs near schools,” said Balla.. /j.p/sm/
