Bank of Albania Survey: 94% of businesses reported a profit for first half of the year

TIRANA, Nov 16 /ATA/ Over 94% of businesses have closed the first half of this year with a profit.

The Bank of Albania published the findings from the business survey for the first half of 2024, conducted through a sample of 1,355 businesses of various sizes, geographically spread across the country, operating in the main sectors of the economy.

The survey results show that, for the majority of businesses, both sales performance and financial results have been positive during the period.

According to the survey, over 94% of businesses reported a profit during the period. Expectations for the next six months regarding overall sales and financial results are positive and more optimistic compared to the previous semester, though still remaining at the same levels as the previous year.

The signals remain optimistic regarding the expansion of activity or the increase in investments, especially among small and medium-sized enterprises. However, they indicate a contraction for large enterprises.

During the period, about 57% of businesses continued to finance their operations solely through sales (around 66% of small businesses, 57% of medium-sized businesses, and 54% of large businesses), showing a decline across all three business categories.

Meanwhile, the trend of combining financing streams continues to account for a significant share, with an increase compared to the previous period for all three business groups.
