TIRANA, Nov 5 /ATA/ Opposition MP Arbi Agalliu said on Tuesday that the 2025 draft budget does not outline clear priorities and fails to identify which sectors the government is focusing on for development.
In his remarks at the Parliamentary Committee on Economy and Finance, Agalliu pointed out that the lack of this vision also poses difficulties for the Ministry of Finance in drafting the budget.
“I notice very little budget support for agricultural sector, including the difficulties this sector has faced in accessing European Union funds,” said Agalliu.
According to him, only 0.6% of GDP is allocated to this sector, while a large number of citizens are self-employed in agriculture.
“According to the government’s logic, if tourism is a priority, agriculture should progress in parallel with it. If we want to boost tourism and male Albania an attractive destination, agriculture must also grow alongside the tourism sector,” Agalliu stated.
Agalliu also called for an increase in the funds for former political prisoners.
The opposition deputy also spoke about the limited funds allocated for compensating former landowners, economic assistance, and disability allowance.
