TIRANA, Nov 4 /ATA/ Deputy President of the Freedom Party, Erisa Xhixho, reacted on Monday regarding the pension increase, calling it an increase of only 25 ALL per day.
In a social media post, Xhixho stated that pensioners are currently the most discriminated, excluded, and impoverished social group in society.
“With an increase of just ALL 25 per day, the government is mocking the 791,000 pensioners in the country. The 2025 draft budget brings no hope for them. The next adjustment in October 2025 will be just another handout, while prices and the cost of living continue to rise daily,” Xhixho stated.
According to her, the taxes of Albanians have not been used to improve the well-being of pensioners and all citizens.
“Albanian retirees are the poorest in the region, with an average pension of 170 euros, while in Kosovo it is 340 euros, in Montenegro it is 450 euros, in North Macedonia it is 325 euros, and in Serbia 390 euros,” Xhixho stated.
Xhixho stated that the Freedom Party considers the obligation to the pensioner generation sacred, which is why it is working on a strategy for their pensions.
“The Freedom Party will come to the aid of senior citizens by enabling: the twofold increase of pensions and bringing them to the regional average based on real economic growth; adjusting pension payments in line with changes in food prices; and complete financial coverage for all medications prescribed to pensioners,” Xhixho stated.
