TIRANA, November 2/ATA/ Opposition MPs and citizens held a march of protest in the Northern city of Shkodra, after the serious event that happened in this city three days ago where 3 people lost their lives during an assassination attempt.
The protestors carried placards which read, “Civilization is stronger than crime!” They are killing us; we need a reaction!”. The protesters marched from the square where the Shkodra municipality building is located, to the “Kolë Idromeno” pedestrian street and then to the “Mother Teresa” square.
The protesters stopped in silence for a few minutes in front of the Prefecture’s institution.
General Secretary of the DP Flamur Noka said reporters from Shkodra that they were there to make the citizens of Shkodra and of all Albania to stand against organized crime. Albania, which has opened the negotiations for EU membership and is a member of the NATO, cannot be the country of organized crime, the cradle of the mafia”.
“Albania must be a different country, a normal Albania. That’s why we are here, to say stop. The protest is a march against political crime, against crime with a state face. While the police has focused on the fight against the opposition”, emphasized Noka.
While Bardh Spahia, former mayor of Shkodra, told the media that, “The event has caused a trauma for the whole city; it has been a shock for the entire public opinion”.
On October 30 in Shkodra, 3 people were killed, while one was seriously injured. Among the victims was Flutura Basha, an innocent passer-by, while her husband was seriously wounded. /k.s/r.e/p.s./
