TIRANA, Oct 30 /ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama commended the positive progress of the justice reform related to the work of the Special Prosecution, stating that this reform should also extend to the prosecution offices of general jurisdiction.
During a meeting with retirees in Durrës, Rama emphasized, “The truth is that today, what Albanians see and commend as results of the justice reform comes down to the work of the Special Prosecution. Meanwhile, in the prosecution offices of general jurisdiction, starting with the Prosecutor’s Office of Tirana, we are overwhelmed with significant problems that highlight the pressing need for this reform to extend to the daily practice of these prosecutor’s offices.”
“Have you heard today of any entrepreneur being prosecuted for tax evasion, meaning for tax avoidance estimated at millions? You haven’t heard for sure. Do you think the administration hasn’t identified some of them? Do you think they haven’t referred them to the prosecution? In the Prosecutor’s Office of Tirana, mind-boggling tax evasion cases have been covered up by the prosecutors. Fiscal evasion has kept prosecution under its thumb for lack of a better term a,” stated the Prime Minister.
Rama said that this is the entire chain that needs to be closed.
He stated that while the law upholds economic order, if it fails to address this category, we face a serious issue, as the last link in the chain is absent, aggravating the situation.
