Opposition’s protest, car movement is blocked in Tirana’s “Eagle” square

TIRANA, October 29 /ATA/ The Democratic Party in opposition staged a protest this evening at around 17:00.

The MPs and supporters of the Democratic Party gathered in the “Eagle” square in Tirana, paralyzing the movement of cars, while dozens of police forces are present to ensure the smooth progress of the protest and the circulation of vehicles.

There were also roadblocks at Kamza turn, preventing the normal movement of vehicles, while many citizens were on the road.

MP of the Democratic Party Flamur Noka who leads the roadblock at Kamza turn said that, “This is the civil disobedience of the opposition. We shall continue until we bring the regime to its knees”, he said to the protesters.

“We want to stop depopulation, so that Albanians are not poor. We want Albania to move forward with free elections”, said Noka.

This is the second national protest called by the Democratic Party as a reaction to the 1-year prison sentence of the deputy chairman of the DP Parliamentary group Ervin Salianji, who was found guilty by the court of “false accusation” related to the “Babalja” file.

Meanwhile, the State Police engaged 1,200 officers throughout the country for the smooth running of the protest, but also to coordinate traffic in case of jams. /k.s/p.s./
