Mayor Veliaj attends Tirana Slush’D launch event, calls on young people to build better future through entrepreneurship

TIRANA, Oct 26 /ATA/  – Tirana Slush’D is Albania’s first Slush’D event, focused on supporting founders and transforming the startup ecosystem.

Aimed at fostering innovation, it connects the Albanian entrepreneurial scene with the Balkans, Europe, and the Nordics, providing a platform for networking, knowledge sharing, and collaboration.

Addressing the Slush’D launch event at the iconic Pyramid of Tirana, Mayor Erion Veliaj underlined importance of freedom of entrepreneurship, saying more and more young people should eye entrepreneurship as the most efficient way to become successful.

“The aspiration is not just to launch a startup, but to make sure that it becomes a long-term and sustainable project that would contribute to the country’s economy and innovation sector,” Veliaj remarked.

“It is worrisome that the findings of various public surveys in Albania show that around 70-80% of Albanian young people say they would wish to take up a government job upon graduation, whereas their Finnish, Estonian or Israeli peers say they plan to launch their businesses and become entrepreneurs. This has to change and the question is how to move from just a start-up to a stay-up?” Veliaj added.

Through a powerful networking and knowledge sharing platform, Tirana Slush’D brings together entrepreneurs, investors and industry leaders to drive growth and innovation. At this launch event, Albania start-ups are provided with the chance to introduce themselves to an international jury, gain professional recognition and expand their horizon towards global markets.
