TIRANA, Oct 21 /ATA/ The Freedom Party reacted in a media statement on Monday shortly after the arrest of the FP leader, Ilir Meta, the former president of the country, by order of the Special Prosecution against Corruption and Organized Crime.
Tedi Blushi, Secretary General of the Freedom Party, described Meta’s arrest as an abduction adding that this serious criminal act will meet with an unprecedented response.
“This terrorist criminal structure that dared to kidnap the former president and former prime minister in broad daylight. I don’t know where Meta is now, and this further proof of such an abhorrent situation. Such serious criminal act will meet with an exemplary response,” stated Blushi.
Former President Ilir Meta was arrested shortly after noon today, and the full details about the charges he was detained by order of SPAK are still unknown.
In June of this year, Ilir Meta was questioned for more than three hours by investigators from the Special Prosecution, and from his media statements, it was revealed that he was asked about his family’s wealth.
