TIRANA, October 18/ATA/ During the inspections in the Archaeological Park of Amantia, the employees of the Vlora Regional Directorate of Cultural Heritage found an ancient sculpture in the ancient acropolis, which was partially exposed on the surface.
Pursuant to the Decision of the National Council of Material Cultural Heritage, there was carried out an archaeological excavation for the discovery of the sculpture, as well as its transport to the premises of Regional Directorate of Cultural Heritage Vlora, to ensure the protection of the sculpture which was exposed to natural factors as well as damage to possible vandal acts.
Although the ancient sculpture was not completely preserved, a significant part of its elements were there.
The specialists of Regional Directorate Vlora carried out the first interventions for its cleaning with professional techniques. Meanwhile, there is being prepared the card of the object for registration at the National Institute of Cultural Heritage. /r.e/a.f/p.s./
