Mayor Veliaj, Granoff discuss school Ecole 42 project on computer science

TIRANA, Oct 17 /ATA/ – The Municipality of Tirana and the Albanian-American Development Foundation (AADF) will jointly kick off work on launching Ecole 42, the largest network of IT schools in the world, at the newly-renovated Tirana Pyramid, and implementation of the “Plug & Play” project, with Tirana being selected to be the project’s epicenter for Southeast Europe.

Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj met Thursday with Michael Granoff, Chairman of the AADF Board of Trustees, to discuss the cooperation agreement on the French school Ecole 42 that will train and educate the next generation of software engineers in Tirana.

During the meeting, Veliaj also focused on the project linking Tirana and Farka parks.

“The City Council will approve Ecole 42 project, the famous Paris school, about which Prime Minister Edi Rama and French President Macron agreed last year. Tirana Municipality and AADF will sign the cooperation agreement, beginning with Micro Follie and the Ecole 42 for Tirana young people over 18. The Ecole 42 courses will be available for free,” Veliaj said.

Veliaj noted that “Plug & Play”, the largest Start Up organization in California, will be the next surprise in Tirana.

On his part, Granoff said that Tirana Municipality and AADF have created a portfolio of projects, mainly on children’s digital education and training.
