PM Rama: EU growth plan, financial support and integration into common EU market

TIRANA, Oct 15 /ATA/ – Prime Minister Edi Rama said Tuesday that the European Union’s growth plan is the cornerstone for the progress of Albania and the region towards accession to the bloc.

“The new growth plan is part of this and not just a financial instrument. The EU growth plan is also about integration into the common European market,” PM Rama said in remarks at the press conference after the second intergovernmental conference between Albania and the EU in Luxembourg earlier today.

PM Rama highlighted that Albanian economy is experiencing steady growth and the country’s GDP has increased more than two-fold in the last decade.

“Albania has doubled its GDP, has tripled the minimum wage, while the average salary has increased two-fold and the country’s public debt has fallen below 60%. Foreign direct investments have increased and the country has become a main tourist destination in Europe, with the highest increase in number of air passengers from one million to over 10 million passengers a year,” he stated.
