Diaspora Women’s Summit, Linda Rama: Obligation to achieve European Union membership rests on us

TIRANA, Oct 11 /ATA/ The 5th Summit of the Albanian Diaspora Women was held on Friday in Tirana under the auspices of the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, the German Embassy, and the diaspora agency.

The summit discussed issues related to improving the policies for directing migration towards development, including the strengthening the network of cooperation among women in the diaspora.

Linda Rama, an expert on public policies and development issues, emphasized the importance of Albania joining the European family.

“The European Union agenda is not something that can be achieved by a single actor, no matter how powerful that actor may be, and the financial instruments themselves actually incorporate the philosophy of pooling resources so that projects can be larger, more meaningful, faster, and of higher quality,” she said.

“I believe that the obligation to achieve European Union membership rests on us, our generation, which has experienced communism, coped with the transition, and belongs to our parents, who never saw a day they could fulfill themselves and envision their future in the conditions we have managed to see,” said Linda Rama.
The 5th Summit of the Diaspora Women, organized by the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, the National Diaspora Agency, and the Diaspora Business Chamber, brought together for the fifth year in a row in Tirana representatives of the diaspora from around the world.

The summit was held under the motto “Leading the Way to the European Union,” highlighting the leadership role of Albanian women in advancing integration into the European Union.
