TIRANA, September 21 /ATA/ Minister of Defense Pirro Vengu stated today that “Ex Austere Wolf – AW24”, an integral part of the “Corridor VIII Response” troops in Albania, have arrived in our country.
Vëngu emphasized that “Corridor VIII” is an activity that highlights the strategic significance of Albania in the NATO as part of the Western Balkans.

The government has already approved the decision that allows the participation of 825 military troops of Great Britain in the joint bilateral exercise “Corridor VIII Response”.
“The purpose of the participation of the Armed Forces is to demonstrate the capabilities of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Albania for coordinating, securing the landing, receiving and accompanying the British forces in the territory of the Republic of Albania,” is read in the decision.
The exercise takes place in the period September 18 – October 13, 2024, near the Pashaliman Naval Base, according to amphibious techniques and in the Port of Durrës for the troops of the Strategic Reserve Force (SRF).
“During their stay in Albania, the British troops will have the status provided for in the agreement between the parties to the North Atlantic Treaty, on the status of their forces, signed in London on June 19, 1951, and ratified from the Assembly of the Republic of Albania. During the entry, stay and exit from the territory of the Republic of Albania, British troops are accompanied by armed units of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Albania,” is read in the decision. /a.f/p.s./
