TIRANA, Sept 13 /ATA/ – Albania’s Finance Minister Petrit Malaj and the Swiss Ambassador Ruth Huber sign the agreement for further technical support in the country’s local finance system.
The new agreement supports the second phase of the Swiss technical assistance for public finance management at local level in Albania and earmarks a fund of 4.5 million euros to formalize project continuation during the period between 2024 and 2028.
Finance Minister Malaj welcomed the agreement as a step towards further advancing bilateral economic ties with the government of Swiss Confederation.
“The agreement aims to improve strategic planning and general management, with the aim of increasing local revenues, as well as establishing efficient systems for auditing and financial reporting. All these objectives are fully in line with the government’s priorities for the modernization of public finances at the local level, as well as for the increase and consolidation of financial autonomy,” Malaj said.
On her part, Swiss Ambassador Ruth Huber underlined that today’s agreement formalizes the continuation of Swiss support for the improvement of public finances at the local level.
“The goal is to improve the management of public finances, use public resources more efficiently, and ultimately, provide better services to local communities,” Huber said.
