TIRANA, August 21/ATA/ The Albanian Customs Administration issued a press release today to deny the news published in some media organs that in April of the current year Albania sent 115 containers of toxic waste to China.
“In context of the disinformation spread in the media organs and that is being used for political reasons and on the other hand to cast mud on the work of the Albanian Customs Administration, we clarify that the case in question is not an export from Albania, but an international transit of the zinc concentrate product from Kosovo”, the press release reads.
The Albanian customs clarifies that the product is zinc concentrate originating from Kosovo with the sending/exporting company “Apelbaum shpk” with the address Rr. Fehmi Agani, Prishtina, Kosovo, while the receiving/importing company is “ACHRO AG” based in Steinhausen, Switzerland.
“The Swiss firm ACHRO AG is the one that ordered it according to the BILL OF LOADING (B/L) of the shipping company MAERSK for the transport of this product (Low grade zinc concentrate) to the host firm “GUANGXI LOGISTICS INDUSTRY INTERNATIONAL TRADE CO. LTD, NANNING, China,” the press release reads further.
Therefore, the Customs emphasized that it is not a product originating from the Republic of Albania and it is not an export from Albania, but an international transit between a company from Kosovo and a Swiss company without the involvement of any company from Albania.
“As in previous cases, the Albanian Customs Administration is exchanging intensive information and closely cooperating in joint investigation with OLAF (EU Anti-Fraud Office) as well as other law-enforcement bodies”, it is read in the press release. /m.m/a.f/p.s./
