TIRANA, Aug 21 /ATA/ The Commission of Appeals and Sanctions postponed for tomorrow at 11:00 am the session for review of the appeal filed by the coalition “Together we win” that seeks declaration of August 4, 2024 byelection in Himara as null and void.
The appeal opposes the decision no. 85, dated 05.08.2024 “On the approval of the Summary Table of Results for the election of Himara mayor in the byelection dated 04.08.2024, of CEAZ No. 88”.
The debate revolved around voters with expired ID cards. According to the administration, there are 6,000 electors with expired ID cards. The opposition says there are more than 200 registered voters who renewed expired cards two days before the election, who were not recognized by the electronic device. But for the Socialists, this is no proof of invalidity, as voters are identified manually.
“This proves that the persons had passports, they had the name on the list, they cast their vote,” the Socialist representative Eridian Salianji said.
The CAS meeting was postponed until 1:30 pm to make available to the opposition some additional information from the administration.
At the meeting held at 13:30 pm, the opposition asked for time to go over the material submitted by the administration, therefore KAS decided to postpone the session tomorrow at 11:00 am
