TIRANA, Aug 19 ATA/ Minister of Defence, Pirro Vungu said on Monday that after many weeks of battling a string of wildfires that engulfed many areas of our country’s territory, today the situation is under control.
Over the past 24 hours, out of 31 wildfires reported, 28 have been completely put out, while only 3 fires remain active, Vëngu wrote in a post on social media.
Currently, he underlined, the blazes in Arren of the Municipality of Kukes, the one in Fushe Lugje of Saranda and in Buçaj of Shkodra are contained, do not risk spreading through forests and are being monitored to avoid any possibility of reactivation.
The Minister expressed gratitude to all operational structures on the ground, firefighters, armed forces, police, Forest Service, Protected Areas and volunteers for their hard work and utmost commitment.
Their joint dedication has been crucial in minimizing damages and protecting the lives and property of citizens, he said.
