Kumbaro: Alpine pastures, these idyllic wild landscapes

TIRANA, August 15/ATA/ Minister of Tourism and Environment Mirela Kumbaro shared in the social media some images that make Albania look like a fairy tale country.

“Idyllic wild landscapes of a pastoral life in Northern alpine pastures,” the minister wrote.

Albanian highlands have long been on the itinerary of nature and mountaineering enthusiasts. Once wild pearls even for a part of the Albanians, today you find visitors from all parts of the world.

Thethi and Valbona get more attention as the two main holiday centers in the highlands. There are constantly local and foreign visitors who walk along the trail that connects them. They get amazed at the Albanian nature.

The journey toward these areas started thanks to the far-sighted people who began to transform the family tower-houses into guest houses. Initially, they offered accommodation and food, but soon they also offered guides for the first-time visitors, while now the guests are welcomed professionally. In addition to the beauty of hidden jewels in the mountains, there is also offered even a hotel service.

The arrival of more and more tourists in these remote mountain areas brought employment to more and more people as well as created the conditions for the recovery of the tower-houses that had been inherited from generation to generation. The extensive coverage of the mountains has already made the north of Albania not so hidden even because there are still forests and peaks far from the large masses of tourists. /p.s./
