Gjikuria after casting his vote: Expired cards pose a problem

TIRANA, Aug 4 /ATA/ The candidate of the opposition coalition “Bashke Fitomje”, Petraq Gjikuria for the mayor of Himara, cast the vote on Sunday in his voting center.

Gjikuria responded to media about the fact that some citizen with expired ID cards were not allowed to vote.

“In previous year’s elections citizens were allowed to vote with expired cards, but this time they were not allowed to vote. The treatment of citizens was also differentiated. Socialist supporters had their ID cards renewed within 24 hours, while others were told their cards would be renewed in two weeks”, he said.
Gjikura emphasizes that this situation will not have any effect of the outcome of the elections.
