TIRANA, July 31/ATA/ Mayor of Lezha Pjerin Ndreu confirmed today that the fire situation in Shengjin has been brought under control.
Speaking to reporters from Shëngjin, Ndreu said that the situation was among the most difficult and the risk was great.
“It was one of the most difficult situations we have been through. “Frankly speaking, there was obviously very high risk because of the strong wind and some small fire became large fire,” he said.
Ndreu emphasized that thanks to the commitment of the relevant firefighter units from all over Albania, it was managed to keep the situation under control.
“We managed to avoid any damage to people, but there has been some small damage to businesses. We managed to neutralize a situation that if we did not work non-stop for 48 hours, it would be a sad story. We have worked all night; we are treating even the smallest outbreaks, we are also waiting for other helicopters”, he said.
Ndreu emphasized that there is still a risk that these fires will be reactivated by the wind, so firefighters from all over Albania have been stationed in Shëngjin.
“We are all standing; the worst of it has already passed. The situation has been managed perfectly; we are talking with the tourist operators, they are working to neutralize the situation in a psychological sense, because there was also a psychological impact. I think that these are things that have been passed and we have no reason why we should not think of normality”, he emphasized. /m.m/p.s./
