Finance Minister hosts EBRD Director to discuss Growth Plan, important development projects

TIRANA, July 24 /ATA/ – The Minister of Finance Ervin Mete hosted a delegation headed by Matteo Colangeli, Director for the Western Balkans region for the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

The Ministry of Finance announced Wednesday that the meeting focused on cooperation with EBRD and major development projects included in the European Commission’s Growth Plan.

New Growth Plan for the Western Balkans will improve ways to mobilize resources to support regional projects, mostly under the Western Balkans Investment Framework.

EBRD will closely cooperate with the European Commission and the governments in the region in implementation of the Growth Plan.

Finance Minister praised EBRD for the Bank’s steadfast commitment to provide funding for the country’s priority projects, including the recent project on rehabilitation of Vore-Hani i Hotit railway line.

In addition to the favourable financing terms, the best international expertise and the standards applied to implementation of these projects are valued as an important element to ensure sustainable investments.

Rail transport projects in Albania have drawn support not only from the government of Albania, but also from international institutions, with  the Western Balkans Investment Fund (WBIF) or the European Western Balkans Joint Fund (EWBJF) being main funding mechanism set up by the EU and international institutions contributing to development of Albania’s railway sector.
