Balla: Enhanced security in prison facilities

TIRANA, July 18 /ATA/ Minister of Interior Taulant Balla reacted Thursday on some issues raised by opposition MPs in the plenary session.

Balla said that security in prison facilities has increased, thanks to the cooperation of law enforcement institutions and the measures taken.

“I understand that prison shops have been a lucrative business, not to say the most sought-after position in Albania was a seller at the prison shop. This business, the prison store, no longer exists, because technology, fortunately, but also coordination between institutions has eliminated this thing. I believe you know very well what was done in prison shops! There is still a lot to improve on the controls. The time when deputies fought over who owns the prison store is a thing of the past”, Balla said.
Meanwhile, referring to the concern that the Police start proceedings for every construction, no matter how small it is, Balla said that it does not stand.

“The procedure has been simplified, just a notification, to fix a yard, to repair the roof or something else,” the minister said.
