Some 80 investment projects on agritourism establishments under IPARD II Programme

TIRANA, July 16 /ATA/ – “Sofra Kolonjare” an agritourism establishment in the south-eastern Albanian town of Kolonje, has become a popular destination for local and foreign visitors following a transformational investment project under the European Union’s IPARD II programme.

This innovatory initiative has also allowed for applications for solar power parks.

The Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Enio Civici, who visited this agritourism establishment, said that the investment has become a driving force for local economy, creating new jobs for at least 15 local families, whereas 60 more families have benefited indirectly through cooperation with local farmers for the locally grown produce.

According to him, investment projects on 80 agritourism businesses offer an additional accommodation opportunity that meets the growing tourist offer, contributing at the same time to the domestic food chain, which exceeds the value of exports by 1.5 times.
