Llogora tunnel opens today, Rama: It changes journey towards south

TIRANA, July 5 /ATA/ The Llogora tunnel is set to open on Friday for road traffic.

The opening ceremony of the longest tunnel in our country will take place at 10:00 hrs.

This tunnel, at a length of 5.9 kilometers, will significantly shorten the travel time to the south coast.

On Friday morning, Prime Minister Edi Rama shared photos of the Llogora tunnel on his social media account, writing in the caption below that this tunnel is one of the landmark infrastructure works that will forever change the journey to the south.

This tunnel begins 500 meters from the Saint Eliza bridge, which is part of the Orikum-Dukat road. The infrastructure work has a total length of 7.42 kilometers.

The Llogora tunnel consists of two tunnels, the main tunnel and the emergency tunnel. Both the main tunnel and the emergency tunnel have 11 connecting tunnels along their entire length. The depth of the tunnel project line is 1 kilometer from the ground surface.

The Llogora tunnel will have a speed of about 80 km per hour. It cuts the distance from Dukati to Palasa from 40-45 minutes to only 7-8 minutes. This investment shortens the way for travelers from Vlora to Palasa, which used to take 1 hour, but now it will take 20 minutes.
