TIRANA, June 29 /ATA/ – The four-lane Thumane-Kashar highway, part of the Blue Corridor project to connect Albania’s north with the southern part, is scheduled to open traffic on Sunday, June 30, at 7:00 pm, the Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku, also Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, announced on Saturday.
Balluku took to the social media to post aerial images of the newly-constructed Category A highway between Thumane and Kashar.
She said that the footage shows the incredible construction work carried out in the last 15 months to complete this major infrastructure project in the country.
The 21.5 km Thumane-Kashar highway is the first segment of the Blue Corridor project.
The high-speed toll road, designed to meet highest road safety standards, includes a series of overpasses, 11 bridges, 12 underpasses, as well as construction of access roads and emergency runways.
The project marks a new era for highways in Albania, as the country continues to modernize its road infrastructure to support growth and development. The Thumane-Kashar highway will significantly cut travel time between these areas and the neighbouring countries, facilitate the movement of goods and people, and help drive economic growth in the region.
