TIRANA, June 28 /ATA/- By Maela Marini/ Prime Minister Edi Rama said on Friday that in Himara attempts are being made to politicize people’s minds and hearts.
At the ceremony of delivering the property titles to the residents of Dhërmi, Rama said that “I never imagined that I would live the day when Himara would be divided by some people into ‘ours and theirs’.
“To begin with, Himara people have historically been themselves, they even wanted to declare a republic of their own, that they are a bit of a republic from the mind, so they wanted to make a Republic on their own even here in the territory . How do we feel about this now that in Himara, some support Tirana and some Athens. These are part of the political games”, said Rama.
Himara belongs to the Himara people and the Himara people are who they are. They are free and have their right to call themselves what they want, but whatever they call themselves based on their origin, at the end of the day their name is people of Himara and Himara, like Tropoja, like Saranda, like Gjirokastra, like Vlora, like Durrës is Albania and everyone, all those who live in Himara are citizens of the Republic of Albania, they are all equal and it does not exist, it cannot exist in my imagination that some are more equals than others.”
Rama underlined that “Himara has a very rich history and has an inseparable history.”
“You cannot divide Himara’s story and divide it at the whim of a fraction and say no, this is so, no, it is a story, it is a story, and what embodies what I am saying is the face of Vangjel Dule. What type of business does Vangjel Dule have in Himara, except as a citizen of the Republic of Albania, like anyone else and who gives him the right to speak gibberish and incite division, which have nothing to do with the daily life of the Himara people, nor with the daily life of the Albanians, nor with the daily life of the Greeks, nor with Albania, they are only related to the goals of some narrow-minded people who are interested in inciting division and who do not belong to this century at all, they come from other centuries, they come from the darkest territories of history”, he added.
The Prime Minister said that everyone can fly whichever flag they like at home, but the flag of this Republic is honored and respected only by doing one more job every day for this country and for the people.
Everyone has their own work to do. Everyone has their own responsibility to bear,” he added.
