Tabaku: CC decision on freelance professions, a victory for citizens

TIRANA, June 27 /ATA/ The Democratic Party MP, Jorida Tabaku, on Thursday hailed the decision of the Constitutional Court to partially override the law on taxing freelance professions.

In a media statement, Tabaku said that there was no legal basis to tax that category.

“After presenting arguments and facts, we won today a battle for all these freelance professions. We won a battle, because today the Constitutional Court handed down a decision that the tax on freelance professions is unconstitutional, which discriminates against freelance professions. For this reason, there is no legal basis for this tax to be applied differently for freelancers. This is a battle won by the DP parliamentary group, by freelance professionals, it is a battle won for Albanian citizens, for the middle class, for those who work hard and were unjustly taxed more than any other business”, said Tabaku.
For those who have paid this unconstitutional tax, Tabaku said that once the decision is published “we will try to fix any consequences.”

“We showed that being on the side of the majority and of work, today we have achieved a positive result in the eyes of Albanians. We need to establish a fair system that values work. I hope it will be the beginning of many other causes that we will follow through with”, concluded Tabaku.
