TIRANA, June 22/ATA/ Fier region produced the largest amount of cereals throughout 2023.
The Institute of Statistics (INSTAT) recently published the report on agricultural statistics, according to which the production of cereals in 2023 is 701 thousand tons, while Fier region has the highest level with 176 thousand tons, followed by Elbasan with 95 thousand tons and Korça with 83 thousand tons.
According to INSTAT, in 2023, the potato production is 274 thousand tons, marking an increase of 4.38%, compared to 2022.
The regions with the highest level of potato production in the country are Korça with 68 thousand tons, Fieri with 53 thousand tons and Elbasan with 29 thousand tons.
The slight increase in grain production during 2023 is related to the tendency of Albanian farmers to cultivate wheat following the price increase in the international market of wheat and flour due to the occupation of Ukraine by Russia.
Agriculture specialists say that the conditions for increasing the cultivation areas, especially with wheat and corn, are quite favorable in some areas of the country. /p.s./
