TIRANA, June 13 /ATA/ -The United States Chargé d’Affaires in Albania David Wisner on Thursday addressed a roundtable event on Investment Screening Mechanisms with MPs Eduard Shalsi and Jorida Tabaku, and representatives from the Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP), Export Control and Related Border Security (EXBS), and the Department of State’s Bureau of Economic Affairs.
In a post on the social media, the United States Embassy in Tirana said that the discussion underscored the importance of robust, transparent investment screening mechanisms to protect national interests in critical sectors like technology, infrastructure, and data.
Wisner underscored that a strong investment screening regime is founded on clear legislative and regulatory frameworks and effective enforcement.
He reaffirmed the U.S. commitment to enhancing security and prosperity in the region, while underscoring our dedicated effort to reinforce investment screening as a crucial security tool.
