Archival exhibition “Chameria in Security dossiers”

TIRANA, June 1 /ATA/ The Authority for Information on the Documents of the former State Security and the “Chameria” Patriotic Association signed a MoU for the reassessment of historical events related to the figures of the Cham community persecuted by the communist regime.

This agreement was signed on Friday on the occasion of the opening of the archival exhibition “Chameria in the Security Dossiers,” an activity held as part of the association’s activities under the slogan “80 years of genocide.”

The signing of this agreement is the first step in shedding light on the fate of this community, which faced the same challenges of controls and persecution, as the entire Albanian population.
Uncovering the truth and learning the past, dealing with the dossiers, documents and stories of communism, serves the challenge of deconstructing the narrative set up for this community steeped in old traditions, which has been through a lot in the past.

The Archive of the Authority exhibited documents from three funds with a total of 105 files, containing about 200 thousand sheets of documents.
