Gonxhja: “Marubi” museum, unique and absolute in capturing history through lens

TIRANA, May 31/ATA/ Minister of Economy, Culture and Innovation Blendi Gonxhja shared in the social media a video dedicated to the “Marubi” Museum of Photography in the Northern Albanian city of Shkodra. The minister praised this museum as unique in its kind and absolute in capturing history through the lens.

Gonxhja invited the public to get acquainted with one of the treasures of the Albanian cultural heritage, emphasizing that every image carries a story and every shot is a moment frozen in time.

The “Marubi” National Museum of Photography was founded to promote the photographic archive created by the Marubi dynasty of photographers and co-developers of images in Shkodra. At the center of this museum project is the legacy of the “Photo-Studdio Marubi” founded by Pietro Marubi, an Italian painter and architect.

The Marubi family studio was maintained by subsequent generations throughout the 20th century and further his descendants were forced to disband the studio in favor of collective communist anonymity.

“Photo Studio Marubbi” documented the lives of the inhabitants of Shkodra, the regional landscapes, the environment, historical events and traditional customs. The Marubi National Museum of Photography was inaugurated in 2016, thereby increasing recognition of the heritage value of the studio archive and promoting the artistic dialogue between tradition and modernity, past and present./r.e/p.s./
