TIRANA, May 27/ATA/ The lawmaker of the Democratic Party in opposition Agron Gjekmarkaj said today from the rostrum of the Assembly that a two-page resolution is not enough to tackle corruption.
During the discussions about the resolution proposed by the ruling Socialist Party against corruption and for good governance, MP Gjekmarkaj said that the ruling majority has had all the opportunities to govern well.
“If I had been in this hall in the fall of 2013, with the responsibility of the MP, I probably wouldn’t have had big prejudices about a resolution like today. Once I think that we should trust in everyone because absence of trust is spreading like a virus in our society. And trust is a virtue, a social value”, he said.
“But, you have been in government. Then, who prevented you from governing well? Is it because of the lack of resolution?! Who encouraged you to run from scandal to scandal, from theft to theft, from robbery to robbery, this two-page text?!” continued Gjekmarkaj.
“For those of us who have lived in this country for 11 years under your governance, this initiative is the most challenging, cynical, provocative paradox when bad rulers talk to us about good governance; when the corrupted people invite us to become more honest; when the unfair people tell us that our lives have meaning only for justice, when the defendants accuse us of lack of knowledge, when the swindlers accuse us of lack of elite knowledge?!”, he continued.
“First, there is the feeling that leads to the truth. Show for once the humanity of repentance. There begins your conversion to Europeans. Until now, you are the janissaries of neo-communism”, continued Gjekmarkaj.
Gjekmarkaj concluded his speech by stating that, “The opposition today does not vote against you; it does not vote in favor of you; it does not even vote at all for you in this new lie and hypocrisy; it simply acknowledges you as the mastermind of the lie; it acknowledges you as the owner of shamelessness, points the finger at you for the vain corruption, for obstructing the use of justice, for the tribalism of the institutions, for the annihilation of democracy and the obstruction of integration and soon, it will remove the chair you are sitting on, from the top of which you are desolating this country”./a.f/p.s./
