Kumbaro: Parking violations and pollution, this year’s challenges

TIRANA, May 21 /ATA/ Minister of Tourism and Environment, Mirela Kumbaro, on Tuesday continued her tour of inspections and debriefing, to Saranda, which she called one of the most extraordinary tourist spots in Albania.

Kumbaro, together with the mayor of Saranda, Oltion Çaçi, also inspected the city’s beach while a group of children from 9-year- schools were picking up garbage on the shore.

During the inspection, Minister Kumbaro said that in Saranda, where the tourist season started much earlier this year, the population multiplies due to the many visitors who have already started to populate hotels, restaurants or apartments for rent.

“Saranda is not expanding, but more and more tourists are flocking to explore this city,” said Kumbaro, emphasizing that this year a lot of work has been put in the preparatory work, which has continues unabated.

Together with the Mayor Çaçi, the minister mentioned the 2 biggest challenges of this summer for the city: parking and waste.

The system of fines will start to be implemented at the end of May. The municipal police will be on the ground to impose fines for parking violations as well as for environmental pollution from waste.
The National Coastal Agency and the municipality of Saranda are ready, but the minister also asked for the support of all citizens to handle a beautiful but also challenging season.
Even the mayor of Saranda, Oltion Çaçi, called on the community to be cooperative in disposing of waste at certain times, given the difficulties that mobility brings in this city.
