EU Ambassador: Public administration, pivotal role in Albania’s EU integration

TIRANA, May 13 /ATA/ – The European Union’s Ambassador to Albania Silvio Gonzato stated Monday that the public administration plays a pivotal role in success of the country’s EU accession negotiations.

Addressing an event marking the end of the Young Cells Albania project, the EU Ambassador reiterated the critical nature of Albania’s current position in its negotiations for EU membership.

“This stage of the project provided 23 new public administration employees with the opportunity to familiarize with the EU legislation, as well as the way how the EU public administration officials work. As it was already noted, the project takes place in a very crucial moment, when Albania has reached a critical stage in its EU membership talks, a stage when an independent and transparent public administration is pivotal for Albania’s success in the membership talks,”Gonzato said.

Young Cells Albania was a capacity building EU-funded project for civil servants of the Albanian public administration, including trainings/internships in EU member states administrations, and scholarship scheme. The project provided training opportunities for 23 young employees, focusing on EU legislation and administrative practices.
